Trauma informed therapy for high achieving BIPOC millennials in Chicago, IL
Therapy for the ones who've always appeared “fine” on the surface.
Dr. LaTasha Miller, PsyD
Empowering you to put the superhero cape down and finally extend to yourself the same care you give to everyone else.
If you’re here, you may be like many of the people I work with. So much of your life you’ve spent focused on not rocking the boat. On making sure everyone around you is ok. You’ve pushed yourself to be high achieving and accomplished, and you’ve probably been praised on how well you hold everything together. You’ve made all of these accomplishments and done everything right. But now you’re wondering:
Why do I still feel stuck when I’ve done everything “right”?
Why does it feel so hard to rest, trust myself, or fully be me?
When do I finally get to stop surviving and start feeling present in my own life?
You don’t have to carry it alone.
I'm Dr. LaTasha Miller, a doctoral-level psychologist and the founder of Protea Psychological Services. I specialize in working with high-achieving adults, particularly those in the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, heal from trauma, chronic stress, and the emotional weight of always having to “hold it together.” My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and tailored to your needs.
Together, we will work together to help you understand the patterns, strategies, and experiences that have helped you get to where you are, but no longer seem to be working for you. Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you feel safe enough to finally show up as your full, authentic self.
Our work together can help you:
feel less emotionally overwhelmed and burnt out,
set boundaries without guilt,
quiet the inner pressure to constantly achieve,
build healthier relationships,
reconnect with your identity, needs, and emotions,
and create a life that feels fulfilling, not just manageable.
If you’re ready to start prioritizing your own healing, growth, and peace, I’d love to support you.
What working together looks like
1. A free 15-minute consult: We hop on a call so you can ask questions, hear how I work, and see if it feels like a fit.
2. Your first session: I learn about what brought you here, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping for. You don't need to come in with the "right" answers, I just want to focus on building a relationship and a game plan.
3. Ongoing therapy: We meet weekly or biweekly for sessions. We go at your pace and revisit what's working as we go.
