Meet Dr. Miller- Founder & CEO of Protea Psychological Services

Dr. LaTasha Miller, black psychologist who provides care to millennial women of color

Welcome!

I’m Dr. LaTasha Miller, a licensed clinical psychologist providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed therapy in Chicago. I specialize in supporting high-achieving millennial women of color and LGBTQIA+ adults who are navigating the unique intersectional stress of corporate environments, systemic pressure, and generational expectations.

Why I Do This Work:

I know what it feels like to be the one who always has it together (on the outside at least). For so much of my life, I understood the assignment: work twice as hard, take up the right amount of space, and whatever you do, don't let them see you struggle. I became a high achiever. I built the credentials, checked the boxes, showed up for everyone around me. But inside, the exhaustion was real. That's when I committed to my own healing and invested in therapy. Through therapy, I got to understand why I was wired the way I was. The patterns. The armor. The survival strategies I'd been running on long before I knew that's what they were.

My own experiences have led me to work with people who also need a space to feel seen. That's why now, after 10 years of working with high-achieving adults navigating burnout, perfectionism, and unhealed trauma, I do this work with my whole heart. I use a trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach; I often draw on treatment modalities like EMDR, CBT, ACT, CPT, and Gottman Method to help you go underneath the stress and the striving to what's actually driving it. We work at your pace, in a space where your full identity is welcome.

It's been an honor watching the clients I work with go from running on fumes and people-pleasing, to setting boundaries, trusting themselves, and finally feeling present in their own lives. My goal is to provide a space where someone can explore their emotional experience without fear of judgment or stigma.
